Need strong opinion about lazer eye surgery?

Ok so I've been wearing eye gles since 5th grade and i've tried contacts in 8th grade but that didn't go to well and contacts and me do just not work so the only other option I have is lazer eye surgery but I'm not sure about having that. I've seen videos of it on youtube and it looks extremely painful, and since I'm a I'd probably have a hissy fit if it burned or hurt badly. My uncle has had it and my mom has said that he was an even bigger wuss than me so I should be fine but I still don't know. And does the operation have any side affects? By the way, I'm only in 9th grade but this question is for in the future or if my parents will let me have it, which I highly doubt it.
