What should I do? My mom's best friend's son and I kind of connected over the summer...?

My mom's best friend's son (3 years older than me) and I kind of connected over the summer. He lives in Czech where I visit family every year. Each year when my family goes over there, my mom and I go out to dinner with his family. Usually it was just casual conversation, but there was always chemistry. This year, we got kind of close over the dinner, like REALLY close and my mom told me he wanted to ask me out. Getting excited I texted him asking him out. He sent me a sweet text saying that we should, and he would text me when he had time. Three weeks later, i still have no text so i text him and we finally go out. He invites his friend on the date, and we kinda connect. The next day, he and his friend are texting me , asking if I want to come on a drive. We drive out in the country and sit by the lake, just talking. This repeats itself a couple of times. Now I am back at home but still kind of brokenhearted. If I dont go to the dinner next year, I might not see him again. So many akward things happened, and i ended up desolate and laughed at by both of our families. How can I make it unakward again, and show him that im not a lovesick little teenage girl, that im over him? Or even make him want me again?
