Twill Weaving, why is it sometimes designated as a fraction?

Im revising AS level textiles, and it says we are supposed to know what '2/2' is under the section 'twill weave'. Ive looked it up and its going on about 'harnesses', but i don't know what that is! :/ can anyone help please? It would be a huge help.
