How can I fix the scroll on on my Acer 5680 touchpad?

I upgraded my Acer 5680 from vista to windows 7 and after lots of forum reading have managed to get the logitech webcam to work (by downloading the vista driver in compatibility mode) but not the touchpad scroll on... ive tried driver downloads from synaptics website AND Acer, normal and compatibility modes. Now i read Alps may fix but has sensitivity issues. Do you have any ideas? I'm not that techy so don't want to mess with the registry!
